Mobile Graffiti!

Grafedia

2005:03:31 1.jpg is hyperlinked text, written by hand onto physical surfaces and linking to rich media content - images, video, sound files, and so forth. It can be written anywhere - on walls, in the streets, or on sidewalks. Grafedia can also be written in letters or postcards, on the body as tattoos, or anywhere you feel like putting it. Viewers "click" on these grafedia hyperlinks with their cell phones by sending a message addressed to the word + "@grafedia.net" to get the content behind the link... Grafedia is a boundless, interactive publishing platform, base, cheap, and easy to use. It is an open system - the places and ways to use it are limitless. With grafedia, every surface becomes potentially a web page, and the entire physical world can be joined with the Internet.

Project 1: What is graphic design?

March 16, 2005

The outline for this project has been added to the site as well as the documents you will need:
Project 1

You will all need to have these pages ready by Monday. Bring the finished pages with you on a cd or some sort of storage device.

After our quiz on Monday, we will take a look at your projects and use the rest of the time as a workday-linking your pages together and addressing any other difficulties you may have run into. Until then, use the resources available to you: all those listed on the course site, any handouts, the dreamweaver book, dreamweaver help file, ect...

Site Examples [structural / presentational ]

March 13, 2005

For Wednesday 3/16 find and post 4 examples of web sites that you consider good examples. Two of these should be examples of well structured sites, for example; information is organized and easily accessible, navigation is intuitive and functional, and the sites content addresses the users goals. Two of these should also be examples of good presentation, for example; these sites would exhibit a visual style that conveys the sites message/concept through imagery, typography, color, ect....

In addition, describe why you think your examples meet both these structural and presentational standards. Be prepared to show and discuss your examples in class.

All of this should be kept with your process book, as with everything else you will be doing for this course.

post this information under the "comments" for this entry (like you did the first day with your emails)

First Day Introduction

March 07, 2005

This is the website for the course. Here you will find several resources as well as the course syllabus and as the course unfolds-project outlines and updates. The website will be updated regularly with relevant posts, if you frequent web logs (blogs); it will operate in a similar fashion and everyone will be able to leave comments on each posting. For example, the instructor may post an entry to the website asking for a short comment on an assigned reading and a relevant website example, and you would then comment on the entry providing the information. If all is functioning, everyone may also enter their own entries to the website; this is a great way for you to share outside resources with the class and exchange ideas. We will go over these details in class.

To exchange emails with each other: Comment on this entry and fill out the form then click "post"
